AREA INFORMATION
Located
100 kilometers east of Vancouver , the City of Chilliwack has a population of
70,000 people and boasts a full transit system as well as a municipal airport.
Our close proximity to Vancouver allows many people the chance to own an affordable
home with only a 45 min. commute to work.
Having
west coast weather patterns means we experience summer temperatures that can reach
the mid 30's while our winters remain relatively mild with very few significant
snowfall accumulations.
Chilliwack
School District 33, operates 34 schools within our boundary to teach over 11,000
students with support staff of over 1,200. School Bus service is provided for
primary students who live at least 2 kilometers from school and 3 kilometers for
intermediate, middle and senior secondary students.
Retail
shopping is growing fast in the Chilliwack area, where we offer 2 shopping malls,
many strip malls as well as several stand alone giants that include Staples, Future
shop, Canadian Tire and Petcetera. Grocery shopping offers Safeway (2), Save on
Foods (2), I.G.A. and Superstore.
Finding
a place to dine out is never a problem with fine and causal dining as well as
offerings from all major fast food chains.
Each
year community events including the Dixieland Jazz Festival, Blue Grass Festival,
Square Dance Festival ,The Chilliwack Airshow as well as the Chilliwack Exhibition,
held at the new Chilliwack Heritage park facilities are just a few of many events
held throughout the year. As you can see, there is much to do within our community.
